Harisadhan Dey

Harisadhan Dey (Born: 1982, W.B) Chiaroscuro of nature, human form, expression, emotion, feelings, and nostalgic images of old Calcutta have always inspired me and taken an important place in my paintings, on which I work continuously.

In art, the visually perceived world can bring out the inner image, or the idea of the figure gets carried beyond the ordinary vision. The physical reflection of one's inner self is reflected through the face. So faces with different expressions like peace, tranquility, and innocence are always a great source of inspiration for me. Also, the influence of traditional Indian color aesthetics and reflection of Hindu spiritual thought inspires me. I like to work with themes close to the masses in rural and folk societies.

My paintings aren't situational narratives, but those steeped in my visual language are transferred directly onto my canvas. The detailed process and technique of my painting have the desire & possibilities to offer aesthetic pleasure, spiritual thoughts, and a searing sensation about his own land to its viewer. Concerning the increasing impact of Western civilization on our culture, my work suggests a love for tradition and rediscovering our roots.
